2 in 1 Detector - the latest development for PNDetector´s Advanced BSD
Close the gap between the fastest detection speed and the low signal operation in your SEM with PNDetector’s Switchable Gain Advanced BSD. State of the art scanning electron microscopes (SEMs) offer a broad spectrum of applications from high scan speeds to low signal operations. The Switchable Gain Advanced BSD allows you to scan your sample using this whole spectrum with the highest image qualities just by a single device. There is no need to reduce the scan speed for high gain settings or the low keV performance in high speed applications. A simple switch between this two different gain settings is enough to get all you need.

Two gain settings with values of 1×10⁵ V/A for high speed applications and 2×10⁶ V/A for low energy applications. They can be adjusted easily by PND’s Switchable Gain Advanced BSD

SEM image acquired with Switchable Gain Advanced BSD set at “high speed mode”, corresponding to gain setting of 1×10⁵ V/A. At a primary beam energy of 30 keV, the image acquisition is performed at a very high speed (down to 0.1 s per frame).

SEM image acquired with the same Switchable Gain Advanced BSD. This time, the detector is set at “high resolution mode”, corresponding to gain setting of 2×10⁶ V/A. A very high sensitivity is achieved even at primary energy beam down to 0.6 keV.

Particle analysis application: SEM images taken at high and very low beam energies just by a single click on the gain settings of the Switchable Gain Advanced BSD Software. There is no smearing effects between single pixels in single frame shots at high energies.

Bio science application: observe beam sensitive samples with superior quality. SEM image taken from a biological tissue at 1 keV beam energy
