Data Format
Standardised HDF5 data structure for reliable, transparent analysis
All measurements recorded with the CXC System are stored in the widely used HDF5 (Hierarchical Data Format), ensuring compatibility, data integrity and long-term accessibility.
Each file contains the recorded data together with the calibration maps and metadata required for full reconstruction and re-analysis in PNCamSuite.
Depending on the selected acquisition mode, PNCamSuite saves either complete frame data (RAW) or compact Cube-only files for scans and long measurements. Both contain the full calibration context, keeping each dataset self-contained and traceable.
Key Features
-
Store all CXC data in the open and non-proprietary HDF5 format
-
Include full calibration maps, metadata and measurement settings within every file
-
Record either complete RAW frame data or compact Cube-only data for scans
-
Retain offset, noise and gain maps used during acquisition for consistent recalibration
-
Embed all experiment metadata including camera mode, timing, gain and sample ID
-
View, verify and export data directly in PNCamSuite
-
Ensure identical analysis results between live and offline modes

Data Cube
PNCamSuite can store CXC data as a three-dimensional data cube.
The X and Y axes define the detector position. The energy axis defines the recorded photon energy. This links spatial and spectral information in one structured dataset.
Users can view selected energy ranges as 2D images, or extract energy spectra from selected detector regions.
